1 Victim Dies From Friday's Fire In Bridgeport: Fire Department
The second victim is listed in critical condition, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — One of the two victims of Friday morning's apartment fire on Success Avenue in Bridgeport has died, according to Scott Appleby, the city's Director of Emergency Management.
The person died on Saturday morning, and the second victim is listed in critical condition. Officials are withholding the identities of the two, due to the ongoing investigation into the fire.
"This incident remains an active investigation being lead by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal Division along with the State of CT Fire Marshals, and with the support from the Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau," Appleby said in a statement.

Appleby added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims and the many residents displaced by this tragedy. Those displaced are being assisted by the American Red Cross."
The 4:20 a.m., two-alarm fire was reported in an apartment building in the 400 block of Success Avenue, and the two victims were rescued from one of the units.

Appleby said that the unit sustained extensive damage, and smoky conditions were reported throughout the rest of the building.
