2 Bridgeport Children Killed In Route 8 Crash In Beacon Falls: CSP
The two-vehicle crash occurred Sunday afternoon.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two children from Bridgeport, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, were killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash northbound on Route 8 in Beacon Falls, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash occurred at about 3:25 p.m. near Exit 23, and the operators of both vehicles, and another passenger in one of the vehicles, also suffered serious injuries in the incident.
Killed in the crash were Laura V. Alves and Riquelme B. Alves; they were pronounced dead at Waterbury Hospital Sunday afternoon.

According to state police, both vehicles, a 2021 Honda Civic and a 2023 Ford F-600 Super Duty, were traveling in the left lane, when the Ford rear-ended the Honda. The collision caused the two vehicles to smash into a concrete barrier off the left lane.
The Honda, which carried the two children and the passenger, was driven by a 33-year-old Stratford man, and the Ford was driven by a 40-year-old Oxford man. Both drivers are being treated for serious injuries at St. Mary's Hospital.
