Man Shot And Wounded Outside Of Birthday Party In Bridgeport: Police (patch.com) β Bridgeport police are investigating a drive-by shooting on the West Side that left a 23-year-old Hamden man wounded while he stood outside a birthday party on Grove Street. Officers responded to gunfire reports near Wood Avenue and Grove Street, found several vehicles hit, and later coordinated with medics who took the victim to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force.

Fairfield starts $8.2 million flood projects after years of Rooster River flooding (ctpost.com) β Major flood-control work is underway along the Rooster River, with Fairfield and Bridgeport jointly funding a new detention basin at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course that Bridgeport owns. Crews have started construction on the first basin and are staking out a second at Tunxis Hill Park, with both expected to provide some protection by year's end and full completion by spring, weather permitting.
