Bridgeport-Based Marine Company Expands Job Training Initiative

Hornblower Marine recently donated training equipment to the New England Institute of Technology's Marine Technology program.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Hornblower Marine announced today the expansion of its on-the-job training and internship program and the donation of training equipment to the New England Institute of Technology’s (NEIT) Marine Technology program.

The equipment – a repowered 17.5 kW generator recovered from a vessel serviced at Hornblower Marine’s Bridgeport, CT location and delivered on October 3rd – will serve as an important component to the ongoing education and hands-on training of students enrolled in NEIT’s Marine Technology Associate of Science degree program.

Christian Lucatino is a current NEIT student enrolled in Hornblower Marine’s internship program, which will provide Lucatino with on-the-job training and education until his anticipated graduation in May 2024. “The combined experience of an NEIT education and Hornblower Marine training has been pivotal to establishing a roadmap for success in the maritime industry,” said Lucatino. “When the opportunity to connect both worlds presented itself, I knew that it would offer students like myself a new experience to further their training and careers.”

The donation to NEIT and Hornblower Marine’s internship and career training program builds upon Hornblower’s commitment to developing a maritime career pipeline in Bridgeport and throughout Connecticut. Prior activities include community career programming, funding trade school scholarships for local students, and connecting residents to rewarding careers in the local maritime industry.
