Bridgeport, Fairfield Fire Departments Assist in Search for Man Missing in Long Island Sound

A man was reported missing in the waters off Bridgeport after the raft he was on tipped over on Sunday afternoon.

Bridgeport, CT — The Fairfield and Bridgeport fire departments are assisting the U.S. Coast Guard with the search for a man who went missing in Long Island Sound when the inflatable raft he was on tipped over on Sunday afternoon, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports crews were are searching the waters off of Bridgeport for the man, who has been identified as Shigemune Mori, 32, who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and no life jacket.

Elsewhere in the state, the bodies of two men have been found and two others — a woman and child — were injured following a kayaking accident Sunday night.

The four kayakers had launched from Madison's Hammonasset Beach State Park Sunday night.

The body of missing kayaker, Ferdinand Lagos, 39, of Manchester, Conn. was found at 12:15 p.m. in Connecticut Monday, police said.

The body of Abdias Ventura, 30, of Hartford was found on a beach in Long Island. Delfina Reynoso, 26, and her daughter, Damaris Reynoso, 8, both of Hartford, were found on the Long Island beach suffering from hypothermia.
