FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested after police say he was speeding when the dump truck he was operating crashed and caused a frightening scene in front of the Creative Minds Early Childhood Center Thursday afternoon in Fairfield. Police began receiving multiple 911 calls at about 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 28 reporting that garbage truck had just rolled over on Greenfield Street near Kohl’s department store, according to Capt. Robert Kalamaras.

The Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that the dump truck had been traveling north on Greenfield Street with a full load of garbage in its canister. The dump truck “had been traveling too fast for Greenfield Street with its full load and began to slide out of control,” Kalamaras said. The dump truck then veered to the right and crashed a large set of rocks on the property of Creative Minds Early Childhood Center, LLC located at 234 Greenfield Street, according to Kalamaras.

Anthony Bustillo, 19, of Lincoln Avenue in Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment. He was released after posting a $400 cash bond. Bustillo is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 12.
