Bridgeport Man Arrested On Attempted Murder Charges: Police
The suspect is accused of shooting a victim multiple times during an attack in August.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 21-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested this week on an attempted murder charge in connection with the shooting of Bridgeport resident Dontrell King on Aug. 17, according to Bridgeport police.
Taquan R. Donald was charged Thursday with criminal attempted murder and first-degree assault; he was arrested in Ansonia and is being held in lieu of bail of $500,000.
The Aug. 17 shooting occurred at about 9:15 a.m. when King exited his vehicle on Washington Avenue in Bridgeport, and walked towards the Savor Deli.

"As Mr. King approached the deli he was confronted and shot by a man later identified as 21-year-old Taquan Donald of Bridgeport CT," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "Mr. King was shot numerous times during this assault, but thankfully survived. As a result of an investigation conducted by Detective Migdalia Ayala and several members of the Bridgeport Police Department’s Investigative Services Division, an arrest warrant was obtained for Donald."
Members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force located Donald in Ansonia on Thursday, and took him into custody.

Donald was transported to the Bridgeport Police Department, where he is being held, and he is scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday.
"The hard work of the Patrol Officers and Sergeants (first responders) who responded to the crime scene, along with the investigators who brought this case to conclusion, is exceptional and commendable," Gilleran said. "Thank you."
