Bridgeport Man Charged In Connection With Car Burglaries, Fraudulent Purchases: Darien Police

The man was located and detained in Bridgeport on June 18 and brought back to Darien where he was charged, according to police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 19-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested last week in connection with a series of motor vehicle burglaries and attempted burglaries in Darien, as well as subsequent fraudulent credit card transactions, according to police.

Josiah Anderson was located and detained in Bridgeport on June 18, and he was brought to Darien where an arrest warrant charged him with: less than $500 on a revoked payment card; third-degree identity theft; two counts of third-degree burglary; two counts of criminal attempt at third-degree burglary; third-degree larceny; sixth-degree larceny, and several associated conspiracy charges.

Between March 10 and March 11, Darien police received reports of a series of motor vehicle burglaries and attempted burglaries that occurred overnight, in the areas of Libby Lane, Holly Lane, Devon Road, and Sunnyside Avenue in Darien, police said.

Over the course of an investigation, surveillance footage and witness statements in Bridgeport showed suspects conducting fraudulent credit card transactions at several businesses, police said, noting the suspects sold a stolen item at a local pawn shop.

"Through investigative efforts, detectives identified one of the suspects as Josiah Anderson, and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued by the Stamford Superior Court," police said.

Anderson was unable to post a court-set bond of $150,000, and he was held in custody. He was taken to Stamford Superior Court the following day.

The CT Judicial Branch website shows Anderson's bond was $50,000, and he posted a 7 percent cash bond to be released from custody. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 13.
