The man has filed a defamation lawsuit, claiming the university wrongfully identified him as the suspect in an off-campus rape.

Fairfield, CT — A Bridgeport man claims Sacred Heart University wrongfully identified him as a suspect in the off-campus rape of a 19-year-old student and is seeking $1 million in a defamation lawsuit, according to the Connecticut Post.
Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports that Gary Douglas, 29, filed the lawsuit on Monday and claims Sacred Heart security issued leaflets that featured a photo of him and his car and identified him as a suspect in the off-campus sexual assault.
The leaflets warned to “be on the lookout” for the man in the photo and to not “allow the suspect on campus,” according to the Post.
