Bridgeport Mayoral Primary Election Results: Ganim Declares Victory
Incumbent Democrat Joe Ganim faced off against challenger John Gomes. Update.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Incumbent Democratic Mayor Joseph Ganim declared victory Tuesday night in the Bridgeport primary election, claiming about 56.59 percent of the vote compared to challenger John Gomes' 43.41 percent, according to an unofficial tally from the Connecticut Secretary of State's office.
Ganim received 4,956 votes, while Gomes received 3,802 votes.
The two men faced off in a court-mandated primary, following a finding of mishandling of absentee ballots.

By winning Tuesday's primary, Ganim will be the Democratic nominee in a Feb. 27 general election, the Connecticut Post reported. Gomes said he has not decided if he will run again in the late February contest, according to Post.
