Bridgeport PD Releases Video In Connection With 'Suspicious' Death

A "person of interest" was seen wheeling a shopping cart that contained the body of the victim, a 37-year-old Bridgeport woman.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgepor police are asking for the public's help in finding a "person of interest" in a case involving the discovery of the body of a 37-year-old Bridgeport woman, who was found in a shopping cart in an East End parking lot on Nov. 3.

The woman has been identified as Rickeyta Baker, and she was found at about 4 p.m. next to a dumpster, behind 1028 Stratford Ave. in Bridgeport.

Bridgeport police detectives, who are actively investigating the case, located surveillance video "that showed what appeared to be a male wheeling Ms. Baker into the lot in the shopping cart, three days earlier, on October 31st, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m."

The same person was then seen on video walking north of Fifth Street, several minutes later, which is the video below.

"The department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the person in the video," wrote Det. Jeffrey A. Holtz, of the Bridgeport Police Homicide Unit. "Detectives are requesting the public pay special attention to his walk and jacket. They believe the person is familiar with the East End, and may reside there."

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Ms. Baker, and the results are pending.
