Bridgeport Police Officer Fired Over Assault Case: Report

The 16-year veteran was arrested for punching a friend during a drunken altercation in 2016.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Omar Jimenez, 34, a 16-year veteran officer of the Bridgeport Police Department, has been fired in connection with a 2016 assault and drunk driving arrest in Fairfield, reports the Connecticut Post.

The incident occurred on Sept. 5, 2016, at the Fairfield Circle Inn, where Jimenez punched a friend in the face and then drove off. He slammed his vehicle into a fire hydrant, fled the scene and was subsequently found and arrested.

The decision to terminate Jimenez's employment came after an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident. Jimenez faced criminal charges, but those were dropped following his successful complete of a court probationary program.
