Bridgeport Schools Superintendent Issues Statement Before Rally

Bridgeport teachers scheduled a rally Tuesday afternoon in front of Bridgeport City Hall to protest working conditions.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport educators scheduled a rally for Tuesday afternoon in front of City Hall to protest working conditions and a lack of supplies.

"From a lack of books and working computers to a shortage of desks, lockers, and certified teachers, school psychologists, and counselors, back-to-school has been a nightmare for Bridgeport students and teachers," Connecticut Education Association officials wrote in a statement.

"Educators are holding a rally to call attention to dozens of shocking and troubling issues in every public school across the city that are jeopardizing student learning. They are demanding the resources students need, the respect teachers deserve, and support from the superintendent and board of education members."
