Bridgeport And Stratford Bicker Over Magnet School Transportation: Report

Bridgeport intends to charge districts that send students to its magnet schools.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Who will provide busing of Stratford students to Bridgeport magnet schools is the subject of a heated debate between educators of the two communities, reports the Connecticut Post.

In the past week, educators from the two communities have fired off emails to parents offering different scenarios for next year in how students will be transported to magnet schools. Currently, Stratford students are bused from home to one of two high schools on Stratford buses, and Bridgeport then picks them up and takes them the rest of the way.

Bridgeport intends to charge districts that send students to its magnet schools, in an effort to recoup about $1.7 million, according to the publication.
