Bridgeport Woman Accused Of Assisting In Murder: Police

The suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with the murder of Marisol Dumeng in May.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 21-year-old Bridgeport woman was arrested on a warrant Thursday morning for her involvement in the murder of Marisol Dumeng in May, according to Bridgeport police.

Members of the U.S. Marhsals Fugitive Task Force took Melanie Castro into custody, and she was charged with criminal liability acts of another for murder, and second-degree hindering prosecution.

Details of Castro's apprehension were not disclosed, and police said that no additional arrests are anticipated in the case.

Dumeng was murdered on May 28, and Glenn Pettway Jr. was accused of the crime.

"After the homicide, Melanie Castro and Glenn Pettway Jr. fled the state and Melanie assisted Glenn in getting to Tennessee," said Bridgeport Police Det. Thomas Harper in a statement. "Glenn Pettway Jr. was located in Tennessee a few days later and barricaded himself in a residence resulting in a nearly 12 hour standoff. Glenn Pettway Jr. ultimately took his own life while barricaded inside the residence."

Castro was held in lieu of bail of $1.5 million, and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday.
