'Strong Lead' Developed By Bridgeport Police In Machete Attack
A 26-year-old Bridgeport man sustained a facial injury in the Sunday incident near Seaside Park.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Detectives have developed a "strong lead" on a suspect in a machete attack on Sunday near Seaside Park, according to Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.
A 26-year-old Bridgeport man suffered a serious facial injury in the attack, which occurred on Waldemere Avenue near the "Diamond 10" baseball field in Seaside Park.
"The 26-year-old victim is reported to be in stable condition at an area hospital with a severe laceration to the head/face," Gilleran said in a statement. "He is expected to survive."

In an earlier statement, Gilleran described the suspect "as a Hispanic male with dreadlock style black hair. He was wearing a white tank top shirt, black pants, and a baseball cap."
Following the attack, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m., the suspect was last seen running near the 100 block of Iranistan Avenue, according to Gilleran.
