Covert Cake Used To Spy On Bridgeport Politician

First it was a urine drug test duel. Now a Bridgeport politician is in the headlines again for a covert cake delivery to a rival.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport politician claims that she used a covert cake delivery to spy on a fellow Board of Education member she claims doesn't actually live in the city. Maria Pereira made national headlines when she challenged Councilman Ernie Newton to a drug test duel that ended in a draw.

Pereira filed a complaint with the state Elections Enforcement Commission that alleges BOE member Christopher Taylor lives in Southport with his mother and not at his Bridgeport address, according to the Connecticut Post.

Taylor gave a tour of Davenport apartment to a Hearst CT reporter. He told Hearst that he does spend a lot of time at his mother's in Southport.

"I planned for this, therefore I had a large cake delivered to Chris Taylor at 155 Davenport St. two weeks ago. My guys gained access to the second floor and video taped their visit," she wrote on Only In Bridgeport. "There was no bedroom, no television in the lounge area, nothing decorative on the second floor. The bathroom did not have any personal hygiene items in the sink area."
