Driver Killed In Christmas Eve Crash In Bridgeport Identified: Report

The vehicle was found partially submerged on its roof with the driver still inside after crashing into the Bridgeport Harbor, police said.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Jamal Gordon, 33, of Bridgeport, has been identified as the driver who was killed in a crash into the Bridgeport Harbor early Christmas Eve morning, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police received a call around 2:50 a.m. of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Waterview Avenue. The caller indicated that a vehicle had left the road, traveled down an embankment and entered the water, police said at the time.

Arriving police and fire personnel found a BMW sport utility vehicle partially submerged on its roof, police said. Witnesses indicated that the driver was still inside the vehicle.

The Bridgeport Police Scuba Team was requested and fire department personnel entered the water in cold water rescue suits, police said. The fire department was able to remove the vehicle driver from the water and began life-saving efforts, police said.

Gordon was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, police said.
