Drugs, Firearm Seized During Raid In Bridgeport: CT State Police

Authorities raided the Nob Hill Circle home of the suspect on Tuesday morning.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 29-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on weapons and narcotics charges early Tuesday during a police raid of his home that turned up cocaine and a firearm, according to Connecticut State Police.

Carl L. Brooks Jr. was charged with the following:

  • Possession (With Intent to Sell) Narcotics (2 Counts)
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition (2 Counts)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance Within 200 Feet of a School/Housing Project
  • Illegal Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine

The 5 a.m. raid of Brooks' Nob Hill Circle home was conducted by the Connecticut State Police-Statewide Urban Violence Cooperative Community Crime Task Force, and Statewide Narcotics Unit, assisted by the CSP Emergency Services Unit, and Detectives from the Shelton, Monroe, Stratford, Bridgeport, and Fairfield Police Departments.

Authorities obtained a search warrant of the home after an investigation identified Brooks as involved in narcotics distribution.

"At the time of the search warrant execution, Carl L. Brooks Jr. was present at the address," state police officials wrote in a statement. "During the search that followed, Detectives located and seized a Ruger .380 caliber handgun, a 50 round high-capacity magazine with ammunition, as well as packaging materials consistent with those used for illegal narcotics distribution. Additionally, investigators seized approximately 10.45 grams of a white powder substance which tested positive for the presence of cocaine during a field test. Detectives also located and seized approximately 52 grams of an off-white powder substance, which tested positive for the presence of fentanyl during a field test."

Brooks was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Troop G in Bridgeport, where he was held in lieu of bail of $1 million, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court on Tuesday.
