BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport gang member was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in connection with a mid-day shooting outside a courthouse in early 2020, according to authorities.

Marquis Isreal, 25, was sentenced Friday to 210 months behind bars and three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney of the District of Connecticut.

Isreal, who was a member of the Original North End gang in Trumbull Gardens, was part of a group that tried to kill people associated with the East End gang in the Jan. 27, 2020, shooting in front of a Bridgeport courthouse, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney. Police responded just after noon to the shooting outside the state courthouse at 172 Golden Hill St., where investigators discovered four victims who had been shot while inside a black Chevrolet Impala and 23 bullet holes in the driver’s side and windshield area of the vehicle, the news release said.
