Goodwill’s “Haunt Your House” Halloween decorating contest

Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut and Goodwill of Southern New England Teamed up to Encourage Residents to "Haunt Your House"

Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut and Goodwill of Southern New England have teamed up with a frightfully fun way to celebrate Halloween. Starting October 9th, residents of Connecticut and Rhode Island are encouraged to dust the cobwebs off of their Halloween decorations and use their ghoulishly good ideas to turn the exterior of their house into a spooky showcase for a chance to win $500.

“We wanted people to have a fun, safe and socially distanced way to celebrate Halloween,” Jeff Wieser, President & CEO, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut said. “Whether you engage the whole family in making homemade decorations, use existing decorations or turn to your local Goodwill store for some upcycled options, this is a great way to showcase your Halloween spirit.”

“We typically see a lot of customers coming into our stores during October for Halloween costumes or ideas and supplies to make their own,” Richard Borer, President of Goodwill of Southern New England said. “With the fate of trick-or-treat largely unknown this year, we wanted to find an equally fun way for people to celebrate Halloween. Goodwill stores are full of items to make this year’s decorations just a little more spooky and exciting!”
