📰 News we're reading
1. Bridgeport Police Urge Traffic Safety After 3 Fatal Crashes (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents are being urged to slow down and follow traffic laws after three recent fatal crashes in the city, including two deadly incidents just 30 minutes apart late Thursday night. Police say a Fairfield man died after crashing under an overpass, and a Bridgeport motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Park Avenue, following an earlier fatal motorcycle crash on Newfield Avenue. Investigators are still examining all three wrecks as the holiday travel season approaches.

2. Suspect Accused Of Stabbing Bridgeport Man: Police (patch.com) — Bridgeport police say a local man is recovering at Bridgeport Hospital after being seriously wounded in a stabbing during a street fight on Iranistan Avenue. Officers quickly applied a tourniquet at the scene and later arrested a New Haven suspect near the Bridgeport train station, recovering a knife believed to be involved. The suspect is being held on $100,000 bail and faces assault charges in Bridgeport Superior Court.

3. Thomas McCarthy returns to Bridgeport City Hall a decade after clashing with Ganim (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport residents will see a familiar face back at City Hall as former council president Thomas McCarthy returns Tuesday as provisional personnel director, filling a key vacancy. Some City Council members question whether the mayor followed proper hiring procedures and worry about political patronage, while officials insist McCarthy must still compete in an open search for the permanent role.

4. Bridgeport is the 'Park City,' so why do its parks lag behind other CT cities? (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport residents enjoy short walks to nearby parks, but a new report shows those parks are smaller and far less funded than in other big cities, especially in low-income neighborhoods. City officials and local nonprofits are using the findings to shape a new parks master plan, explore a 20-mile waterfront pathway, and push for more investment and amenities across Bridgeport.

5. Which CT towns are the most walkable? (ctmirror.org) — Bridgeport ranks among Connecticut's three most walkable cities, scoring above 70 on a national walkability scale and earning a "very walkable" label. While that still varies by neighborhood, the data suggests many errands in Bridgeport can be done without a car, putting the city ahead of most U.S. communities and reinforcing Connecticut's overall reputation as relatively walkable.
