Judge Orders Bridgeport P&Z To OK Self Storage At Former Stop & Shop
The storage facility had been opposed by some residents and Mayor Joe Ganim.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport's Planning and Zoning Commission has been ordered to approve the application for a self-storage facility in the former Stop & Shop on Madison Avenue in the city's North End, the Connecticut Post reported.
The proposed storage site had been opposed by Mayor Joe Ganim and area residents, who wanted to see housing constructed at the location.
In his ruling issued Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Dale Radcliffe said that the P&Z violated the city's zoning regulations by denying the application, in part, because the property is in a previously created MX2 zone. Among the allowed uses in such a zone are retail, office and customer services, according to the Post.
