Multifamily Home Damaged In Bridgeport Fire

The blaze was reported Thursday afternoon on Poplar Street.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Firefighters doused a fire in a multifamily home on Poplar Street in Bridgeport Thursday, but the second and third floor apartments "sustained major smoke and fire damage," according to authorities.

The blaze was reported just after 2 p.m., and it took firefighters about half an hour to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, but seven adults and one child were displaced by the fire, and they are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Firefighters from Fairfield and Stratford provided mutual aid to the Bridgeport department during the fire, the cause of which is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal's Office.
