• Animal Control special meeting hears cost estimates for new building (bristoledition.org) — Bristol's Animal Control Building Committee is pushing ahead with plans for a new, smaller 5,000-square-foot facility after hearing a roughly $4.1 million cost estimate and being told no more city funding is likely. With new state regulations looming in 2029, members and Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu say Bristol must move forward within its budget, likely at a site near other city services on Vincent P. Kelly Road.

• CT man accused of hitting police cruiser, second vehicle while fleeing traffic stop in Bristol (courant.com) — Bristol police say a local man fled a Sunday night traffic stop, hit a cruiser and another vehicle, then drove the wrong way on Barnes Highway before being arrested. Officers report seizing significant quantities of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, and the man now faces a long list of traffic, drug, and public safety charges with bond set at $500,000.

• East Hartford high school football preview 2026 (thehour.com) — East Hartford High's football team is rebuilding under new head coach Ty Outlaw, a highly successful former Bloomfield coach, and will bring that revamped squad to face Bristol Central at home on November 13. With only a handful of returning starters and a defense needing major improvement, East Hartford is counting on a new staff, fresh receivers, and key playmakers to turn around recent losing seasons.
