Police Say The Device Inside Could Be The Trap (wealthofgeeks.com) — Brookfield police are urgently warning residents about mystery packages containing USB drives, chargers, or other small electronics that could install malware and steal personal or financial data if plugged in. Officers say these “brushing” scams may also include dangerous QR codes that lead to phishing sites, and they urge residents to leave any unknown device or code unused, verify orders through trusted accounts, and report suspicious activity to retailers and the FTC.
