Brookfield Reaches 6-Figure Settlement with Fired Superintendent
The details of the agreement, reached last month, were disclosed Wednesday.

BROOKFIELD — The school district will pay fired Superintendent Anthony Bivona $175,000 as part of their settlement, the News Times is reporting. The details of the agreement, reached last month, were disclosed Wednesday.
The district will be out-of-pocket $125,000; the remaining $50,000 will be covered by the board's insurance company. That sum will be paid out of funds left over from last year’s budget.
The BOE fired Bivona in October 2014, alleging that he did not properly oversee the district's finances. Bivona's defense was based upon blaming the former business manager, Art Colley, for "improper accounting and financial management practices he did not disclose." Colley was one of two staff members accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the schools, and the budget was reportedly overspent by more than $1 million, while Bivona was superintendent.
