New Medical Marijuana Regulations on Tap in Brookfield
Town officials look to define exactly what a marijuana dispensary is, how big one could be, and what commerce zones are most suitable.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- The Zoning Commission has announced it is looking to impose regulations on medical marijuana dispensaries before these businesses apply to open in Brookfield. Such laws would govern where the dispensaries could be located, how big they could be (no larger that 4,000 square feet), and the minimum distances from schools and churches (1,000 feet) they could be built. The public will have the opportunity discuss the regulation on May 10.
Better Healing, LLC announced in 2015 that they were planning on opening a medical marijuana dispensary in Brookfield, but that plan as yet has not came to fruition. The proposed location of the firm's dispensary was not disclosed.
For Connecticut patients over the age of 18, there are 22 medical conditions that entitle the sufferer to medical marijuana. These include HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, PTSD, and Crohn’s disease.
