Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day Raises More than $2k for Canton Fire/EMS Department

The event has raised more than $20,000 over the years.

Canton Fire and EMS Department raised more than $2,100 in partnership with the 10th annual Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day

Engine 4 was heading to the event, but got called to help on a mutual aid call in New Hartford. The rig got back in time for the noon opening.

About 5,000 free cones and cups were scooped out for what was the second highest total donation for the event over its 10-year history.

The grand total raised over 10 years is more than $20,000.

“We want to thank everyone in the community and beyond who came out,” said Ben & Jerry’s Canton co-owners Phil Killoran and Bandi Morgenthau killoran. “We love supporting Canton’s volunteer firefighters and EMTs.”

Department Chief Richard Hutchings thanked Ben & Jerry’s for their longtime support and all those who donated.

Anyone interested in joining the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department can visit www.cantonfireandems.org, or drop by the Collinsville or Canton firehouses Monday evenings during the Department’s weekly practice drill at 7:00 p.m.
