Familiar Face From Granby To Lead Canton Schools
The Canton Board of Education Friday voted to appoint Granby's school chief to lead Canton schools starting this summer.

CANTON, CT — A familiar face is coming back to where he first made his name in educational administration, this time to lead the Canton Public School System.
At a special meeting Friday, Jan. 20, the Canton Board of Education unanimously voted to hire Granby Superintendent of Schools Jordan Grossman to lead Canton's schools.
The vote was followed by long and sustained applause by the board and the audience. Terms of the contract were yet to be finalized, with that a condition of his hiring.

Grossman will replace Kevin D. Case, who announced his retirement last year effective this June.
The new school chief's educational journey took him to Canton in prior years, where he was assistant principal at Canton High School, principal of Canton Intermediate School as well as assistant and acting superintendent in Canton.

In 2019, Grossman was chosen to lead the Granby public school system, a three-year deal that concludes this year prior to his arrival in Canton, which becomes official July 1.
"Today was a mixed emotion day," said Grossman Friday after a long ovation.
He said he "cared deeply" about the Granby community and the people he worked with and for.
"It's always difficult to share with people who have been good to you," he said.
"But then to walk into this room ... to see the enthusiasm and support of this room is something I could not emulate anywhere," Grossman said, thanking the school board.
"I am commited to these children," Grossman said.
"I think the strength that I can bring to Canton at this time is a good thing," Grossman said.
Canton Board of Education Chairman Lou Daniels expressed gratitude to the search committee and fellow board members for making the choice.
"I would like to thank my board members," he said. "It was really special, you made this job a lot easier."
