CANTON, CT — Following a public hearing last week, the Canton Board of Selectmen has approved a new tax agreement with the operators of a small, hydro-electric power plant in town.

Selectmen approved an agreement with Canton Hydro LLC to set the rate of its municipal property tax at $30,000 per year, reports the town following the Jan. 11 selectmen meeting.

"This tax will increase by the same rate as the mill increase each year, and will not decrease in revaluation years," reads the summary.
