Cheshire To Begin Limited Reopening Of Town Facilities
Officials announce plans for reopening several town facilities, with limitations and restrictions, beginning June 3.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Town of Cheshire will be reopening several town facilities, with limitations and restrictions, beginning June 3, officials announced Friday. Officials are encouraging residents to continue to use the variety of electronic means to conduct business with the town at www.cheshirect.org.
Town Hall will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are asked to register at the door and indicate the department they wish to visit so staff can monitor the number of people in the building and in each office. Visitors may need to wait in the lobby for others to exit before they can go to an office. The lobby will be limited to five people maximum, and offices will be limited to one or two visitors at a time, depending on the office.
Artsplace, the Youth Center, the Fire Department, and the Police lobby will be open regular hours, but will be limiting the number of visitors, officials said. (To sign up for Cheshire breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Cheshire Dog Park, Cheshire Skate Park and the Town Tennis Courts at the Youth Center will be open to the public on Tuesday, May 26. The new tennis and pickleball courts at Cheshire Park will be opened in mid-June when construction is completed.
Mixville Park is closed until further notice, but other town parks and passive recreation areas are open. Basketball courts and playgrounds remain closed. All park restrooms will remain closed until further notice, including those on the Farmington Canal Linear Trail.
“There will be no facilities rentals at least until the end of June,” officials wrote in a news release. “Meetings will continue to take place electronically, at least through the end of June.
“All visitors must adhere to social distancing guidelines at all buildings and parks, and must wear face coverings to be allowed access to buildings. This is essential to maintaining the health of our employees and visitors. The Town appreciates the cooperation of the public.”
The full Reopening Plan can be found here. The plan will be updated as guidelines and the governor’s orders change, and as operationally necessary, officials said.
