Cheshire Community Holds Vigil for Christopher A. Settembri, 18

Settembri was killed in a murder-suicide on Tuesday.

The Cheshire community once again gathered at the high school football field to remember and mourn a recent Cheshire High graduate.

Saturday night’s vigil was held for Christopher A. Settembri, 18, who was killed Dec. 16 by his father, Christopher P. Settembri, 48, in what police said was a murder-suicide at their Cornwall Avenue home.

Police have said that the younger Settembri was found in a downstairs bedroom with a fatal wound and that the elder Settembri was found in an upstairs bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted wound.

The cause of Settembri’s death, however, was not the focal point of Saturday’s vigil, according to WTNH. Instead, it was about coming together, sharing memories, and supporting one another through the passing of who many called a friend, according to WTNH.

Last week, hundreds of friends and family came out to the high school football field for a vigil to remember and say goodbye to Isabella Gozzo, who died Dec. 13 at the age of 19 after a one-car crash in Berlin.

Gozzo was a passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend, Anthony Longo, 22, who police said lost control of the car on Route 9 South near Exit 21.

Visiting hours for family and friends of Christopher A. Settembri will be held Monday, Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home.
