Cheshire Wins 3 Titles At SCC Championships

It was a banner day for Cheshire High School at the Southern Connecticut Conference championships as the Rams took home three titles.

CHESHIRE, CT — It was a banner day for Cheshire High School at the Southern Connecticut Conference championships as the Rams took home three titles on Thursday.

Cheshire claimed championships in girls swimming, girls soccer and field hockey.

The Cheshire girls swim team won the program’s 27th league title in 29 years. The Rams finished first with 1,226 team points, while Amity Regional was second with 935 points and Guilford was third with 842. Daniel Hand finished fourth with 697 points, and Lyman Hall had 646.5 points in fifth place.

In field hockey, Cheshire defeated Branford 2-1 to claim its fourth overall title – and first since 2013.

Gabby Tirado lifted the Cheshire girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over defending champion Mercy with a goal in the second half, according to GameTimeCT.com.

With the win, the Rams claimed their seventh SCC championship – first since 2016 – and also beat Mercy for the first time in eight years, according to GameTimeCT.
