Quinnipiac Professor Laura Willis is new head of AEJMC Commission on the Status of Women

The purpose of the CSWM is to advocate for the improvement of the status of women in journalism and mass communication

Laura Willis, associate professor of health & strategic communication and program director of master's in public relations, is the new head of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s (AEJMC) Commission on the Status of Women (CSWM).

The purpose of the CSWM is to advocate for the improvement of the status of women in journalism and mass communication. The commission promotes feminist scholarship and pedagogy by encouraging, planning and presenting diverse conference programming.

Through a variety of activities throughout the year, the commission seeks to balance inequities in the academic community and coordinates with other groups within AEJMC that are also engaged in supporting nondiscrimination and multicultural inclusiveness.

As head of the CSWM, Willis will also have a seat on AEJMC’s Board of Directors for the next year.
