Cheshire's Gunneson Receives Prestigious Award
Kelly Gunneson was one of just four students selected from the SCSU campus to receive the 2016 Henry Barnard Award.

Cheshire’s Kelly Gunneson, a senior on the Southern Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team, was honored on Wednesday night as a recipient of the 2016 Henry Barnard Award from Southern Connecticut State University.
Only four students are selected from the SCSU campus, while just 12 are tabbed from across the Connecticut State University system.
Honorees must maintain a 3.7 GPA or better, and have demonstrated significant participation in university and/or community life.
A secondary education and mathematics major with a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average, Gunneson distinguished herself academically and athletically over the course of her four years as an Owl. She saw action as a starter in each season and was a two-year team captain.
In addition, Gunneson was a two-time selection to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Academic Team and a multiple selection for both the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She was also into the National Math Honor Society in 2015.
