Cheshire's Matt Burns Selected for NEIBA All-Star Game

Burns is a redshirt junior on the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team.

Cheshire’s Matt Burns, an outfielder on the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team, has been selected to play in the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star Game at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.

This honor comes on the heels of a season in which Burns previously earned All-Region and All-Northeast-10 Conference laurels.

The Owls’ leadoff hitter put together another fine season on the diamond and in the classroom. He earned All-Conference honors after ranking fourth in the league in stolen bases (28), 10th in hits (53) and triples (3), 11th in batting average (.356), 14th in runs (34), 16th in doubles (11) and on-base percentage (.409) and 17th in slugging percentage (.490).
