Police: Cheshire Teen Victim of 'Sextortion'

A Cheshire 15-year-old boy was a victim of an apparent “sextortion” and investigators are trying to track down the woman responsible for it, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports that the woman convinced the teen to record himself performing a sex act while they were video chatting, then threatened to send the recording to his whole contact list unless he paid her $350.

The boy and his parents filed a complaint on Jan. 27 and investigators are trying to identify the woman behind it but police told NBC that she has since disappeared from the Internet and investigators “have no reason to believe” she’s in the United States.

The 15-year-old never gave the woman any money and so far the recording hasn’t been released, according to NBC.
