Fairfield Woman Faces Charges Following Death of 89-Year-Old Man She Struck
The man was hit while walking to McDonald's for his birthday breakfast last December.
A Fairfield woman is due in court March 3 to face charges related to the death of an 89-year-old man she struck with her vehicle as he was walking to McDonald’s for his birthday breakfast last December, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports that Denise Purzycki, 61, of Riverside Drive, was charged Wednesday with evading responsibility which causes serious, physical injury or death, a felony, and also failure to render due care to a pedestrian.
Martin Monahan died Saturday at the age of 89.

Monahan was crossing Burroughs Road at about 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 6 and was about 4 feet from reaching the sidewalk before he was struck by a car driven by Purzycki, who failed to stop and had to be chased by a witness, according to previous reports.
Purzycki told police at the time that she thought she hit the curb.

After the accident, Monahan received treatment for a broken leg, pelvis, shoulder and lower back at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, according to the Post.
