Popular Strawberry Festival Canceled In Cheshire
The festival is being canceled for the first time in 83 years due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers announced.
CHESHIRE, CT — The popular Cheshire Strawberry Festival has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers recently announced.
“Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 situation, we will not be hosting the 83 annual Cheshire Strawberry Festival this year,” reads a post on the festival’s Facebook page. “We will be back and better than ever next year. We will see you then!”
It’s the first time in its history that the First Congregational Church of Cheshire has had to cancel the festival, which is traditionally held the first weekend in June on the church green, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

Pastor James Campbell told the Record-Journal that it took them a long time to decide to cancel the festival but there were numerous concerns.
