In an effort to have some fun and build community during this difficult time, Artsplace, Cheshire Public Library, and Cheshire Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce announce what they hope will be a new fall tradition for the town; a scarecrow contest. Families, community organizations, and businesses are encouraged to participate. Build a scarecrow. Be as creative as you can. Perhaps build it in the form of a famous character, or in a way that reflects your business or organization. Maybe your garden club will build one made out of pots and flowers. Your restaurant can build one juggling plates or pizza boxes. Your church group can build a choir of them. Your family can build scarecrow self-portraits. The goal is to fill various public spaces, business locations, or your own front lawn with scarecrows for the month of October. Organizers will take photos to post online and will create a map of locations so the public can make an event of viewing scarecrows. Go to https://cheshirechamber.org for complete rules and to register (deadline Sept 28). The proceeds from the $25 registration fee will go to support Cheshire Chamber of Commerce activities and to Cheshire Human Services to help support residents.
