Apex Announces Giving Tuesday Capital Campaign Kick-Off

Capital Campaign to Reimagine and Expand Services

Apex Community Care, Inc. announces, in conjunction with Giving Tuesday on December 1st, the kick-off of a capital campaign to reimagine and expand services. The non-profit organization recently purchased a building at 16 Hospital Avenue. This new space allows Apex to implement an exciting vision to add to their offerings the highest quality medical care created with and for communities of color, LGBTQ folx, immigrants, low income individuals, and those with HIV.

“We’ve wanted to do this for a long time”, says Apex CEO, Roberta Stewart. “When we expanded to include behavioral health, we found many clients are not connected to medical services. They don’t feel like they have the right to medical care. We want to show them they are enough and they matter. We get them. At 16 Hospital Avenue, we will be able to provide the full range of services in one location, using our culturally sensitive model. Through this project, Apex will leave a lasting legacy of caring for the community and move the needle on social justice.”

Existing programs, which are bursting at the seams in their three current West Street buildings, will be relocated to 16 Hospital Avenue. At this new site, Apex will continue to provide HIV care; mental health and substance use treatment; Hepatitis C, STI and HIV testing; prevention and harm reduction services. The new location will continue to offer the welcoming, safe and nurturing environment which Apex clients have come to expect. An LGBTQ drop-in center will also be added, to provide a safe place for the queer community to gather and receive support.

The concept for the building calls for extensive renovations to the 20,000 square foot existing space. To accomplish these goals, the Leadership Team, Board, and staff of Apex are seeking to raise $250,000 in private and public funds. The successful completion of this campaign will secure Apex’s vision to provide health care with dignity, equity and cultural humility, through inclusion and empowerment. The agency is asking for the support of new friends and long-time donors alike to make this new vision for Apex a reality.
