Sept. 11 the program will be Revolutionary War Battle of Long Island

On Monday evening September 11, 2017 at 7:30 PM the Brookfield Historical Society will host a multi-media presentation in the Brookfield Museum located at 165 Whisconier Road (Intersection of Routes 25 and 133) in Brookfield Center.
The speaker, Joseph Cerreto, will feature a program on the Revolutionary War Battle of Long Island. It was fought on August 27, 1776 and was the first major battle to take place after the United States declared its independence on July 4, 1776. It was a victory for the British Army and the beginning of a successful campaign that gave them control of the strategically important city of New York. In terms of troop deployment and fighting, it was the largest battle of the entire war.
Cerreto, is a reenactor in the 2nd NY Regiment, a recreated Revolutionary War Continental Line unit, and part of the Brigade of the American Revolution. The 2nd was an actual combat regiment, formed in 1775. Elements of the regiment took part in most of the major combat actions in the Revolutionary War. He will appear in his period Regimental Uniform complete with musket and field equipment.
