City of Danbury to Hold 9/11 Memorial Service
The 9/11 service will honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks 15 years ago.
DANBURY, CT — Mayor Mark Boughton will be joined by local officials, and members of the Danbury Fire and Police Departments, on Friday, September 9th, for a brief remembrance gathering. The Greater Danbury community is invited to join Mayor Boughton at the memorial on Main Street in Elmwood Park. The program will begin at 6 p.m.
“The annual remembrance gathering at our 9/11 Memorial each year provides us with an opportunity to come together to reflect on the tragedy and to remember those lost as a result," said Mayor Boughton. The Danbury September 11 Memorial, located in the historic Elmwood Park on Main Street, is a twelve-foot tower of glass mounted on a pentagon of Connecticut granite. The front of the tower faces north and is flanked by a backdrop of plants and trees. The glass tower is lighted from dusk until dawn and lines up with the lighted flagpole flying the U.S. flag previously flown over the U.S. Capitol and the 9-11 Memorial Flag.
