Danbury Citizen Police Academy Now Accepting Applicants

The semi-annual Danbury Citizen Police Academy is now accepting applicants. It's Free!

The Danbury Police Department has announced it is now accepting applicants for its Citizen Police Academy. The program is offered semi-annually, once in the winter/spring, and again in the summer/autumn. It is available to residents, business owners and workers within Danbury.

The course is designed to give community members an opportunity to learn more about the operations of their police department and police procedures. The police also hope it will build bridges that will lead to better understanding and cooperation between them and the community they serve.

The Danbury PD stresses that the course is not intended to make citizens into police officers but rather to "heighten awareness of both the public and police in an effort to develop a partnership between both." They will provide instruction in many basic police department tasks and an opportunity for people to role-play and have hands on experience with the tools of police work.
