Mayor Mark Boughton also announced the limited reopening of some facilities and businesses in Danbury.

DANBURY, CT—Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton provided residents with a daily coronavirus update via Facebook live. As of Monday afternoon, the mayor said there were four new coronavirus cases in the town, bringing the total number to 1,795. There was also one additional death. Despite the continued cases, Boughton said most people who've contracted the virus have recovered from it.

Per the governor's order, the mayor announced the limited reopening of some facilities and businesses in Danbury.

Dog parks will reopen this Friday afternoon. Tennis courts will reopen for Memorial Day weekend, according to the mayor.

The mayor said restaurants can reopen Wednesday, May 20; however, there are some restrictions. Restaurants with pre-existing patios (where food is served outside) must be re-certified by the city's health department.

"If you want to add a patio or use the sidewalk, you must file an application with the zoning department," Boughton said. “Here’s the confusing part. You may have had an outdoor eating area already, and you may say, ‘Oh, I can just open on the 20th.' You cannot unless you got a certification from the health department.”
