Danbury Coronavirus Updates: Boughton: About 520 Active Cases

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Mayor Mark Boughton has confirmed there are approximately 520 cases of the new coronavirus in the City as of Sunday.

The number is derived from 480 cases accounted for by the State Department of Health, and an additional "40 or so" positive cases not tallied in the State's numbers, according to Boughton on Twitter.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced the total number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Connecticut reached 5,675 on Sunday and 189 people have died. Additionally, 1,142 people have been hospitalized since the inception of the pandemic last month.

According to state officials the surge of hospitalizations is now expected to be between April 26 through May 1 for Fairfield County. This means the hardest hit area of the state may still have more than three weeks of significant cases to be reported.
