Danbury Firefighters Rescue Man And Dog Lost In Tarrywile Park
Firefighters tracked down a hiker who had lost his way in Tarrywile Park.

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters tracked down a hiker who had lost his way in Tarrywile Park on Wednesday.
The hiker's dog, Dakota, set off on its own, and the dog's owner became lost while searching for it when darkness set in
The hiker called 911 at 8 p.m., and the dispatch center was able to pinpoint the lost hiker's location in the woods via GPS.

Firefighters rescued the man and his dog "unharmed, just as his cell phone ran out of battery," according to firefighters posting on social media.
The DFD crew brought them out of the woods, gave them both some water, and returned them to their vehicle.

The Danbury Fire Department took the opportunity to remind residents to be "prepared for a challenge or two" when hiking in Tarrwile:
"Carry a flashlight, have a full charge on your cell phone, and carry a battery pack to recharge your phone if possible. Understand mapping Apps on your phone, and always let someone know your Hiking Plan and your estimated return."
