Danbury Firefighters Tackle Blaze At WCSU Campus

First responders found a working fire in a trash compactor.

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters extinguished a fire on the Westside Campus of Western Connecticut State University on Friday night.

Fire Department officials learned of the fire at Centennial Hall around 10:10 p.m.

First responders found a working fire in a trash compactor, and upgraded the event to a second alarm, calling in more crews. The area between the apartment ceiling and the roof had filled with smoke from the trash chute, according to a social media post from Mill Plain Independent Hose Company #12.
