Danbury GOP Names Boughton to Lead Ticket Again

Treasurer Daniel Jowdy and Clerk Janice Giegler will also be seeking new terms.

DANBURY, CT — In a move surprising to nobody, the Danbury Republican Town Committee named Mayor Mark Boughton to lead their ticket in November.

The RTC also endorsed incumbents Treasurer Daniel Jowdy and Clerk Janice Giegler for new terms at their meeting Monday night.

All of the GOP incumbents on the City Council will be on the ballot. That includes Irving Fox and John Priola representing the 1st Ward; 2nd Ward representatives VinnyDiGillo and Elmer Palma; Christopher Arconti from the 3rd Ward; 7th Ward reps Nancy Cammisa and Joseph Scozzafava; and at-large representatives Bruce Bennett, Philip Curran, Michael Esposito, Warren Levy and Colleen Stanley.

The following Republicans will be mounting challenges to Democrats on the City Council: Erin Domenech and Alexander Rodriguez in the 4th Ward; Matthew Orr and Delvin Rodriguez in the 5th Ward; Rachel Halas and Andrew Wetmore in the 6th Ward candidates; and Emile Buzaid Jr. and Rachel Chaleski will run for at-large representatives.

The Democrats announced their slate on Monday. They are fielding 43 candidates, led by Chris Setaro for mayor, Kate Johnson for city treasurer, and Andrea Gartner for town clerk at the top of the ticket.
